Was at Best Buy today and was informed the price on the X just went up to $299 no rebates. Guy said the phone has been popular so Motorola raised the price. Could be a deal breaker for me.

Best Buy also seems to independently price based on demand. I think the no contract Droid X was well over $600 while Walmart had it for $530

Best Buy = Worst Buy. So much of their stuff is overpriced that it truly wouldn't surprise me if they priced it at $399. I went in there today looking at covers and screen protectors for my X. I walked out empty-handed, once again wondering why I ever go into that overpriced store.

Two things it is still $199 on their site which they will price match to. And since when does the phone manufacturer set the price on contract that would be the service provider.

They probably didn't have any in stock, and just wanted to sell you whatever phones they had in stock for $199.
