Root 3.29.651.5 update?

This is taken directly from the bakedsnackshack.com forum re: flashing 1.8

Flashing Instructions
turn off your phone
hold volume down and press power button while still holding volume down
when prompted with the white screen press volume down to highlight recovery and press power to select
now using volume buttons to navigate and power to select go to wipe data/factory reset
then select wipe cache partition

now scroll down to install zip from sdcard and select
click on choose zip from sdcard
now find the rom on your sdcard and select and it will start flashing (do not mess with your phone while its flashing)
once installation is completed click go back and then click reboot system now
your rom will now run its first boot which can take anywhere from 3-6 minutes
enjoy the rom!

I would suggest you follow his leading and just bite the bullet and do the data and cache wipe before you flash. As always, do a nandroid just in case something happens.

If you haven't downloaded Titanium Backup, I would suggest you do so and then backup all user apps and system data BEFORE you flash the ROM. After flashing, redownload TB from the Market and then restore your user apps with data and you should be good. You may have to manually do some re-syncing and app reinstalling but it shouldn't be too bad.
