3d Froyo Gallery App (With pinch to preview)

Some guy over at XDA ported the froyo gallery app to 2.1 eclair, here is the thread

and the file can be downloaded here (copy and paste in browser window)

Installed straight from sdcard and it runs perfectly, and boy is that pinch preview feature fun. I believe since it runs off the sdcard it loads gallery pictures faster, or at least appears to do so on my end. Runs perfect on my Droid X so I thought i'd post it here.

Worked easily for me. Not rooted. Connected my phone via USB, dragged over the file then unmounted. Opened up my Files app and clicked on the Gallery3DFroyo.apk and it installed.

What folder did you put this file in? Straight on the SD card? When I try to launch and install I get a not installed.

Cannot put in system app folder.

u can put in where ever you want.. the same problem is happening with me too

1) Download the app
2) Click on Install
3) Have a coke n a smile


No, but make sure under Settings -> Applications that "Unknown Sources" is checked.

Also, make sure you download the app on your phone and not on your computer, then execute from the '/sdcard/downloads' folder.

ive done this plenty of times with other apps but for some reason this one is just giving me problems and not working right..

Allow Unknown Sources is the trick, sorry should have mentioned that (thankfully ericnail did). This gallery is so much better than the stock moto one, and that pinch to preview is actually decently handy.

I just wish the HDMI out would work so I could hide/remove the stock gallery :/

yea that'd be nice, I use DLNA to put on tv so I just hide the gallery.

Edit: I had to delete the other 3d Gallery that I had installed and it worked fine.

that was the problem!!! i had the 3d gallery installed... and it HAS to be UNINSTALLED 1st

CRAZY I cannot get this installed. Deleted the 3d App, rebooted, battery pulled and I keep getting the same error. I'm also guessing that stock gallery is not unistalled either (as it would require root).

Will hopefully get when Froyo is released, but for some reason I am stupified as I have never had issues installing anything on Droid, Incredible so there is got to be something wrong with my setup somewhere. CRAZY.

Does the launch camera icon in the top right corner work? I downloaded a version of the 3D gallery from this article, and it doesn't work. It just blanks the screen for a second then returns to the gallery. other than that, it works.


Update: Never mind, it works. Had to delete the old app, and install the new. A little sluggish (about 3 seconds to launch), but it's better than no launch at all. Got my Picasa folders in the Gallery too!
