Sorry Ken-Doh, not an answer but a little bump because I'm interested in the answer to this as well. Every previous bluetooth phone has had the "standard modem over bluetooth" option but this phone doesn't appear to display the necessary services.

I think we'll here "wait for Android 2.0" which seems to promise some bluetooth improvements.

With rooted ROMs, tethering via Bluetooth is possible, at least with the Dream and Magic. I have not seen any documentation in the rooted Hero ROMs that explicitly suggest that it is capable of this, but I would assume that it should be posible with a rooted Hero as well.

I would love this functionality as well. With the Pre, there was an app that took care of this beautifully.

Had to wait 4 ages to get this function on the iPhone 3G. Hope to get this on Hero really soon - would be kewl hooking it up to my MacBook aswell.

I can confirm that with a Rooted Hero, Wifi/Bluetooth tethering is possible.
