When I'm at home, my WiFi speed is typically almost 3m DOWN and 700k UP. (Lame compared to my speeds at work  ) While my 3G is typically about HALF of those speeds. But here's where my confusion sets in. When I watch a YouTube video with the stock YouTube app, videos buffer faster and/or play MUCH better when using 3G. What's your experience? I'm wondering if the 3G connection is utilizing some kind of compression that allows this?

When you're on WiFi the YouTube app defaults videos to high quality. Could be why it takes longer to buffer or play.

Yes, 3G loads a lot faster than WiFI, however compression is the reason why, thus resulting in lower quality videos.

But you can always watch the video in High Quality on 3G, I believe,

From my experience with the Droid wi-fi doesn't seem to be optimized very well. When using the web browser or youtube i don't notice any real speed difference.
