Does anybody have any insight as to when us non-rooted Verizon Nexus users can expect to receive the 4.0.3 update that was made available by Google last week?
Shouldn't take long. That's the beauty of owning a nexus. 6 months from now when we're on 4.1.9, you'll be able to scour the other phone forums on this site and read the "Official Where The Hell Is Our ICS Update" threads, and chuckle to yourself. I certainly will.
fwiw the 4.0.3 that was released last week was just the AOSP Source code. Not the actual Nexus 4.0.3 update. The nexus 4.0.3 update should be out in a week or so.
Most likely you will need to re-root, however you should be able to find an image of the 4.0.3 version with root already obtained. Just don't accept the OTA and then check out XDA for the rooted version and flash! I am actually holding out on root until 4.0.3 since google confirmed this to be the new baseline. Can't wait to join in the fun though!
like Jbuck said you will probably have to re root. But rooting is so easy on this phone i will actually take the OTA and then just re root like a BOSS!!!
Ive rooted every android phone (and nook color) ive owned...but havent rooted ole nexy yet...havent had the need. ;-) though I do want the better radios, I will just wait for now.
i'm asking if it will be the same process as the first time? same dos commands and what not? or will there be a whole bunch of different files to download and new commands to run?
Actually that's why edited out my initial comment, I thought you were asking something else sorry :/ (you can't delete comments)
