Should I have 4.1.2 by now? I'm on a SIM only, monthly contract, with Tesco.

Only Poland has it so far.

Contract is not relevant. Its whether the phone has branding on it (Splash screen etc) so if you bought the handset outright probably not - unless you bought it second hand.

It's unbranded.
I thought it was soon but the strange this is my brothers phone has had the update already.

Just found out his is locked to 3, so I guess that's why?

All 3 UK handsets will get the updates at different times. All the branded ones were first on to 4.1.1, with unbranded trailing behind by a couple of weeks.

Wasn't aware UK carriers had started rolling it yet.

If the phone is locked or not doesn't matter, but if the firmware is branded (Three, etc.) then it's up to them to release the newest firmware. By the way, 4.1.2 isn't out for anyone as of now (beside Poland), so you're not supposed to get updates as of now. Unless they started rolling it out.

EDIT: looking at Sammobile, Vodafone (Germany) started rolling 4.1.2, Russia as well.

My S3 is from TalkTalk buts it's on Vodafone UK network and is unbranded, no network splash screen or network bloatware. Wil I get the 4.2 upgrade anytime soon?

That sounds suspiciously early to me, especially since theres nothing here or on xda about a 3 uk build.

Most custom roms are xxelkc (poland) but the first Germany ones are rolling (xxell5).. would be interested in the build number....

His build is
JZO54K.i9300xxelkc

He said he updated to JB before it was released but isn't rooted.
Could that be why?
