I have the same problem after latest 4.3 fix. I have kies 3 with the latest updates. I usually upgrade firmware through kies but the 4.3 fix I downloaded using OTA as it came up on my notification bar. I was desperate to download it as my phone was so slow and un responsive.
Anyone out there know why kies would not support device all ofca sudden?

OK - 2 issues. I downloaded the new 4.3. ever since I have a strange icon in my status bar and I cannot find anything out about this. Any ideas (it's outlined in red)?

Then - ever since upgrading to the 4.3 - my phone shows it is constantly downloading a handfull of files - random files, pictures downloaded, an email attachment, a file I emailed to myself... I clear my downloads, I restarted my phone, I clear the downloads in the status indicator and they then re-download (they also show in the first image but here's the expanded version:

Why do they continue to download? It would seem like my battery life has gone down and my phone is slower since changing to 4.3 HELP!

I think the icon is NFC so turn that off and i read someone say theres an app called "downloads" or something you have to do something with. Maybe find it in app manager and clear data
EDIT read this and thank the poster http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=6333292
P.S a factory reset is always recommended after a big update. Should speed things up and improve battery

NYC is correct! Thanks. Turned it off. Factory reset sounds like I'll lose all of my data/settings - no? Thanks!

About the downloads:Saw another thread about old download messages. Go into app drawer and start the downloads app. Then clear downloads.

Funny thing is; the items that are continually re-downloading - are not in my download list. I already checked that and short of deleting the items from my phone altogether...?

They are not redownloading and even if you delete the files completely the notifications will still come back. This is why it's always best to do a factory reset after an update. However if you want to fix the problem without a factory reset follow the instructions in post #3 of this thread:

Performed a factory reset after flashing the 4.3 update, and then performed a Titanium Backup restore of apps and settings ... but, from time to time I get some force closures, sometimes whatsapp, and other google services

Not sure what going on with this? Any ideas? I thought a factory reset, should have sorted this. It doesn't happen all the time, just from time to time .. but is annoying

Don't restore apps and settings through TB, most of the time you get into problems. Go into settings > Applications and go to the problematic apps that FC and clear cache and data (you'll have to enter the data again from fresh, so make sure you have your account info at hand when needed). That should do it.

For future reference I would not use TB tor restore apps and data, only the apps if you have to.
