At least on my HTC Hero, 70 apps is the limit. No, I did not run out of internal or SD memory-far from it. But I have been going off trial and error, installing and uninstalling apps. If I go over 70 apps, once I shut off/turn on my phone, it will be completely corrupt, won't give me service, apps start crashing, etc. The first time this occurred, I had no idea what was wrong and hard rebooted my phone. Now, if I stay at 70 apps or below, I'm fine. HTC should really tell you this and it is ridiculous considering I have plenty of memory left.

Never heard of this ... sounds like something else is the problem...

    I have a G1 with 327 apps as i use Apps2SD and rooted ...

But even before I rooted i had 160+ Got Memory Warnings .. Low memory because of small swap memory ...

Of Course not all apps are 2MB in size ... so how many apps depends on the size of the apps

If there really were an App limit, it would not crash the phone when you reached it. Obviously something else is wrong with your phone. I have 74 Apps installed on my Hero right now, and I haven't had a single issue.

Maybe you have an App installed (like App Manager, Task Manager, or a Memory Monitor) that crashes when you have more than 70 apps. I highly doubt your issue has anything to do with HTC. Odds are that it's a third party app you've installed (or who knows, maybe a virus from some warez or porn site you may have viewed on your Hero).
