MWC 2010: HTC Desire and Legend Overview | AndroidGuys

Listen right at 4:00 minutes on the video on this page. I think that is an HTC person talking. He says: "...5 mega pixel camera with flashlight and can record videos in 720p."

I REALLY hope this comes to the USA.

I've seen on other videos in the walkthrough of the camera software that wvga (800x480) is the highest option on there. Maybe the sensor could do it but I really doubt it'll ship with 720p recording.

Yeah apparently the hardware supports it but the software doesn't... yet, which doesn't make sense tbh, waste of an HD camera and money, and a lot of customers who would by it for HD.

I have monitored the video quality a lot, and I have to say that the samples I have seen from reviews are OK. sort of the same as my existing Nokia N95 5MP camera.
however one thing to consider a lot is frame rate, Desire have 27 fps that is on the limit IMO.
another thing to remember according to my experience is that the recording works better with a fast SDHC , above class 4. ( maybe not an issue on the Desire)

IF the 720p recording lag or that the lens is not so good, then I rather use better lower resolution but with good "flow"

The Nexus One got an unofficial upgrade to use 720p, and it has the same camera and other hardware (pretty much) as the Desire.
