I wrote a 80s style arcade game a few months ago if anyone is interested.
I grew up playing galaxian and galaga when this style of game was huge, now its just another forgotten era, makes me feel pretty old.
Anyway at least my daughter, 8 years old likes playing it
Its nothing special compared to the many high quality games available now however it was alot of fun writing, I got lots of practice using GIMP for the graphics. Still I'm no artist. This is my first game since writing snake for the C64.
