*82 un-blocking and texting

Here's my issue. For business reasons, my number has the Verizon block *67 for all my outgoing calls. My problem is when I need to call my office or a co-worker, I use *82 in my contacts list to unblock my number for these specific contacts which works fine for a voice call. However, if I need to text a co-worker, I have to manually remove the *82 so the text goes through. I tried to add an additional contact number without the *82, but the phone seems to recognize that it is the same number and doesn't accept the new number. Any help and/or suggestions are appreciated.

Have you tried editing the contact on your google contacts online? And then syncing?

Not something I've had to do, but might work?
