Hey guys and gals, as the tittle says I do not use an Ascend but my girlfriend does and she is on cricket.

I rooted her phone and installed some ROM on it (sorry I can think of the name) and she is having some problems with mms. :( So I am getting the blame every day for this.

I am just looking for ROM that is good. And what ever fix may need added.

Dont go on a flaming war here, as the tittle says I use a Evo and this is not my phone so I am really looking for your input. As I would like to get this done in a night.

If it were my phone I would flash 5 ROMs over a week and see what worked best for me but seeing that I am not going to be able to do a lot of testing, I think something that just works and does not run dead slow will be good.

Thank for your input & help!!

    James

your best bet in your case would be ICARUS as mms is working in it or the setting for it to work are posted.

    Thanks!!

I was almost hoping that CM6 or CM7 has made its way to the Ascend but from what I have seen there are still a few bugs. That to bad, I love CM7 on the Evo..

But are there any kernels that would help speed the thing up a little? Or is the one that gets installed with ICARUS also about the best bet?

Thanks again for your quick answer!!

CM6 n 7 are ported over to the Ascend but both have no mms yet.

ICARUS 1.1 is a cleaned up 2.1 ROM and seems to be fast, stable, and popular, tho I've not tried it I like CM7 lol. And I think it has a better kernel too.

I am on Cricket also and have had Icarus on my phone for a good month and 1/2. I like it a lot. As PlayfulGod has said. It is a cleaned up (very) nice version of what's already on the phone. (2.1) It makes the phone ALOT less laggy between screens and such. Anyway. Does work WELL with cricket. Until CM6 or CM7 have the mms issues worked out, Icarus wouls be your best bet. :)

You definitely want Icarus 1.1 because of the mms. If the mms doesn't work right away there is a thread Icarus 1.1 mms fix. It's about changing the APN setting. Some people needed it but for others it worked out fine.
Since you know about flashing already you should be fine. But MAKE SURE you are using CWM 2.5.1.8!!! You are probably going to have to download it but there is a link in the thread. Good luck.
It's not an Evo but she should be happy with it when you get Icarus on it.
On a side note. When pip2k gets his hand on the official 2.2 rom he will be able to get mms working for CM6 and isaacj87 will be able to do it for CM7 (or whomever is working on it). There are threads in the All-Things-Root sub-section.

plus icarus was is the same as 2.1 but had been modified and tweaks and stuff been added to give you a fast no lag ascend, and everything works on it including mms, and it has an OC kernel 600 mhz.

Actually Huawei clocked to 600mhz. Isaac didn't change that. It's in one of his posts somewhere.
