A few questions

OK, I have received my Z1 today. It looks impressive. I have not made the switch from my current phone yet as I am still waiting for my micro SD card so I can transfer all my apps and file to the new phone- hopefully tomorrow. I have a couple of questions that I would be obliged for some answers please.

1. I bought the DK31 magnetic charger (Magnetic Charging Dock DK31 | For Xperia). It states "Interchangeable inserts in the kit make it possible to use this dock with your Xperia Z1 with its cover or without." I can see a plastic adapter kind of thing, but I am not sure what it does, or what "use this dock with your Xperia Z1 with its cover or without" means. Can someone shed some light please?

2. With my HTC sensation XE I synchronized my contacts and calendar etc with my PC using 'Myphonexplorer'. Will this work with the Z1? I found this way the easiest and most straightforward.

3. I read in this forum about some issues with the visibility of the screen (basically going black) and that the issue is solved with turning on "Optimized Backlight" (please correct me if this is not the case. If so, please provide the solution so I know what to do if this occurs to me). I tried to find the setting and could not locate it. Can someone help please?

Sorry for being brief, I'm responding via my phone. I can expand on anything when I get to PC again if needed

1. It means if you have a case for your phone, you can use the dock without taking your case off.

2. You'll have to set it up again, but MPE should work no problem.

3. It was activated by default and the option to turn off was removed in the latest software update. If you head to Settings - About Phone, does your software version end in .257?

Built number 14.1.G.257, yes. Does this mean that the 'deactivate' option is gone? When I turned my phone on elarlier it run 2-3 updates, one of them was to the 4.3 software...

Sorry to keep asking questions. I also have the smartwatch 2. Do i need to download any apps so it communicates with my phone?

You'll need to download the smartwatch app from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.smartconnect.smartwatch2

Turn on NFC, push the back of the smartwatch to the phone next to the NFC logo, both will vibrate and in about 10 seconds, they should be paired.

What sort of apps are you looking for smartwatch wise? They give you a few suggestions in smartconnect/the smartwatch app, but I let WatchIt handle most of my notification stuff: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.petersson.watch

1. The plastic bit that comes with the magnetic charger is a spare part for the one inserted in the slot already. It can be removed, and if you have a flip cover it is possible to use the charger without removing the case.

2. I cannot give an advice since I am not familiar with that piece of software.

3. That backlight option was removed in the latest software update from Sony, which ends in 257. You could have found it under Display, in Settings.
