So I want to root my Skyrocket and im new to all this and alittle confused.

    I have installed Kies.

DO I need to backup my contacts and apps BEFORE I root my phone? Also how would I backup that stuff?

Is there any apps that I shouldnt delete after I root that may cause a problem?

    Thanks, for the advice.

Rooting the phone shouldn't disturb existing data. If you are syncing your contacts with Gmail, they are already backed up. There are many apps that could cause serious repercussions if they are removed. A better approach is "freezing" apps with Titanium Backup. I don't know if that feature is available in the free version or not but, from what I've read, the paid version is $6 well spent.
