I have a CDMA HTC DESIRE that had 2.1 stock, I rooted it using unrevoked and recently there was an OTA update w/ 2.2 and I have saved it to sd card hoping I will be able to use it. Unfortuntaely, I have really messed up my phone as I downloaded the wrong official RUU,(which removed unrevoked root), unable to access clockwork recv as I keep getting red triangle w/ an ! and now I am also getting a pic of a phone w/ a red question mark when I try to do a flash. I am able to now root again with Z4root and also have the official OTA update stored on my PC and when I attempt to install on phone I keep getting the whole aborted signature failed status 7 and etc.... I have tried the various .zip methods recomended in the posts but with no luck and I am very frustrated. However, the good thing is that I am able to make and receive calls at least. I am in way over my head and realize my ignorance has brought this upon me. Any help is very much appreciated as I have spent all weekend trying to get back to my original stock 2.1.

The red triangle means you have HTC recovery now.

What RUU did you download incorrectly?

The question mark when you try to flash what exactly?

You've completely unrooted your phone. You should not use Rom manager ever. When you root with unrevoked you true flash clockwork. You now have HTC recovery.

You'll either have to RUU the correct one or root depending what you want at the end of all this

Is there a universal ruu installshield wizard program for a windows pc? That would be very helpful and quite possibly resolve this. Thanks

What? No. It doesn't install. It just runs. Did you try running as Admin?

The install shield just opens the RUU. What is the problem you have?

But when you say you have put the software on your SD card, what exactly have you put on there? If it's an RUU .exe file that's a windows program. If it's a PB99IMG.zip you need to install it from hboot. If it's something else....?

Oh I get it, he is talking about this thread here:

    http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/345318-aaaaarrrggghhh-red-triangle-mark.html

I am still unsure if he has an RUU.exe to run from a PC or a PB99IMG.zip to run from Hboot on SD card.

Edit>Reported to get these posts moved to the relevant thread.

...and the PB99IMG.zip is spelled exactly PB99IMG.zip? It goes on the root of the SD card. You boot into Hboot and it automatically picks it up? Then what does it say?

    What does hboot say?

It needs to be on the root of sd not in a folder. It is case sensitive so it must be called PB99IMG.zip not pb99img.zip or pb99img.zip.zip

Are you actually using HBOOT to try to install the PB99IMG.zip file? To be absolutely explicit:

boot while pressing the "volume down" key
when the hboot screen (white, little skateboarding androids at the bottom comes up) it will ask you whether you want to update. Press "volume up" to agree.

That log has a lot of references to things I wouldn't expect to see in this process, or with an official HTC RUU, in particular "koush", "clockworkmod" and "ROM Manager". Just from that log I'd have guessed that you were trying to install it with ROM Manager, except that I thought you weren't rooted any more.

    Just boot into recovery manually.

Boot to hboot (vol down + power)

    Use volume to highlight recovery.

    Press Power to select recovery.

ROM manager shouldnt be used as it causes many issues on this device.

But further to that, you do not use ROM manager or recovery for PB99IMG. You just boot into hboot and it does the rest for you.
