So I'm putting this in the Metro forum because it more involves the data plan rather than a question about the phone.

I'm hoping some of the Metro store owners (I know your out there hulk) will chime in and have a good answer for me.

I'm planning on getting a Moto G (will probably get the Google Play Edition). Currently on my Motion I'm on the current $50 2.5 gig plan. Will Metro consider it a 4G phone since it gets HSPA+21? My hope is that they won't consider it a 4G phone and that I can just drop my plan to the $40 one since I won't have to worry about the amount of data (500 meg instead of 2.5 gig). If it's considered a 3G phone, I won't have to worry about a cap on my speed by going over the 4G data limit. Does that make sense? Any way, thanks.

I am not the Hulk, though I have played him in the way, Way, WAY off Broadway production. :D

Al, I think Any phone on the New GSM network is going to be considered 4G and those data limits will be in place for you.

I'd be shocked if that wasn't the case.

    Sorry bub. :(

Laughing out loud about the hulk comment. :)

Yeah, you might be right about the plans and BYOD, but had to ask.

why get the google play edition? the stock moto g comes with some of moto's enhancements, has cm and other aosp based roms and an unlockable bootloader. so you can have stock rom with all the cool moto addons and if its not for you go aosp.

At the moment, my thinking is that I get the GPE simply 'cause when I unlock the boot loader, there won't be the caveat (or at any rate, from what I've read in the past) that if you unlock it, you lose the warranty. The GPE phones are expected to be bl unlocked since they are considered for developers.

I fully plan on unlocking the bl and trying the different ROM's.

I think the Moto G Motorola apps can be dl from the play store (or some of them can).

Edit: Maybe I won't get the GPE after all. Saw this just now: http://m.blogs.computerworld.com/a...n?mm_ref=http://plus.url.google.com/mobileapp

unlocking any bootloader voids the warranty.

the only moto devices that get full warranties after unlocking are developer edition phones. those are the only custom rom developer phones, a nexus is an app developers device. an app developer doesn't need to flash roms or things, they need the latest version as quickly as possible. the GPE allows nexus like software but on the devices app developers would like.

either way im sure someone will make a "stock rom" for the gpe so you win either way. :)

Thanks for clearing that up for me. See my edit above. I'm pretty sure that the Dallas area is refarmed for the 1900 frequency, but I'd rather have the full AWS capability in case I do any traveling here in the U.S. Don't have any plans for travel outside the States so I'm not concerned about having the global version.

Yeah, I thought for sure that the Play web site was just not listing it as AWS, so fully planned to get it and use it.
