Accessing GMAIL in email app....

Hi,

I want to access GMAIL account in the email app, when I enter my gmail user and password I get an error:

Checking Incoming Server

Username or password incorrect.

(Web login required. [Failure])

I have set Gmail to IMAP but still not working

Please help I hate that conversations google crap.

I highly recommend installing K-9 Mail to replace both stock email apps. When you first open it, it will ask you for your email address and password. If you enter your Gmail info, it will set it up as an IMAP acct by default. You can go in and manually change it POP3 at any time.

I have a droid and it uses my gmail account as the main account for marketplace etc is this the problem?

I and trying this over WIFI.

Are you entering your username as:

username

or

username @gmail.com

I'm having the same issue. I'm able to log into gmail from the gmail app and the web, but neither the stock mail app or k9 are able to connect. I have tried my username with both @ gmail and without and I'm getting the same error. I was able to log in with both apps last night and now suddenly I can't.

any one have a fix for this yet? I'm getting this error using k9 and the standard email app on my incredible. It's working fine on the built in gmail app.

I should qualify this more.

Running Incredible
imap account through google apps (not just gmail)
I've tried my username both as @#!#$ and #%#@aaaa.com
absolutely positive all settings are correct for outgoing server, imap.gmail.com (even tried imap.googlemail.com), ssl, port 993

I went into my gmail app account, changed my password and it worked fine....then I changed it back to what it was to be begin with and it's still working fine.
