Help ADB won't recognize stratosphere as device.

What I'm running:
XP professional
most recent ADB (just updated)
Eclipse mobile (Juno v1)
Samsung Stratosphere (with android 2.3.3)

What I want to do:
As the virtual devices don't let you test internet very well (I'm writing an app to connect to a server here), I need a physical device so I can test my app.

What's going on:
I've installed all the device drivers from the Samsung site (their OEM drivers) as well as letting the phone install it's own when I connected as a drive. Didn't work.

I looked at my device manager and Windows only recognizes it as generic drive. I have no Android device category on my device manager either (unless that's just a windows 7 thing?) I've tried "updating drivers" but that doesn't seem to tell windows what this "generic drive" actually is.

Even weirder, I've lost the ability to tell my phone to mount as a drive after turning on usb debugging settings.

Any suggestions?

Do you have USB Debugging turned on? It's required...
