Brand new here, just got my 3vo (coming from Bbery), and LOVING this thing so far!

I did my best to look around for my topic, and haven't found anything similar... but who knows, I may have missed it. Not even sure exactly how to phrase the question!

Basically, what I'd like to do, is add actual open screens of apps to some of my homescreens -- not just widgets.

In other words, you know how the phone comes with FriendZone already appearing to take up an entire screen? Same with My Tracks. Well, I'd like to do the same with Yahoo News or some other news widget, for instance.

How do I make that happen? Is there a way?

If I long press on an app, all that does is move the widget of the app to the screen... and if I tap it, that opens the app. Within the app there don't appear to be any options that would allow to place it on a screen... so what am I missing?

Thanks in advance for any responses, and if I'm completely unclear, please let me know so I can clarify myself. :)

open app drawer, long press app you want on screen. app drawer should close and you should have a faded shortcut under your finger you can place on the screen. you can move it left or right to other screens too

Yes, but all that does is move a shortcut/widget to that app to a screen. It doesn't open the app and place it there.

I'd like to have one of the screens entirely dedicated to a single app, where it's opened and fills the screen -- the way weather and FriendStream do on the 3vo when you first get it.

How do I make that happen?

Or am I still not making much sense?

Here's an example of what I'm talking about: FriendStream. The device comes with this app taking up the entire 5th screen; it's just always there -- there's no need to tap on a widget to open it or anything.

Same with the weather and the Footprints screens (I just don't have those screenshots).

I want to dedicate an entire screen to a news app that's just always open on that screen -- no widgets or anything else there, just that opened app.

    Does that make sense?

That's a widget. If the application doesn't have widgets built into it, from my understanding, all you can do is place shortcuts.

What I would give for a Music Beta lockscreen widget.

    Ahhh... this would make sense!

I wonder if there's a way to find/sort apps by widgets...

Thanks for this, clears things up for me.

If you google something like best android widgets, there will be plenty of sites that have their list of some of the best widgets available. Everything from news to sports or social media. I have found a number of pretty good apps/widgets that way.

if you go to personalize on your screen and choose Widget, it will give you the apps that have widgets available to put up. However, many of them arent full screen ones like friend stream. You might just want to ask in the apps forum what sports app or whatever, has a great widget.

Widgets are cool, but they slow down you down if you have a ton that need to be updated a lot. Also, many of them arent as good as just clicking into the app anyway.
