Does anyone know how to add yahoo email to the new android 2.1
disregard i just tried this and it don't work.
Cool, thanks, just one question, I want to add it to my existing accounts, will this override them and make yahoo default or just add it?
I post that above from what i thought was the page i found last night. I found a page last night that had the correct settings, and i forgot where i read the post. Well i had to revert back to a previous back up and now i cant get it to work.
maybe this was the link
It was yay.
Do you go into settings/accounts/ and add new? I only get Google corporate and Facebook as options?
Ummm, for me, I did NOT need to do all thse steps above. I simply opened the native "Email" app. Went to add an account. All I had to do was put in the email address and password associated with the account and the app did the rest. There was no need to put in ports, incoming/outgoing server info. I'm assuming this was the "better Yahoo Mail" integration that was talked about in Verizons release statements. I have no issues at all with Yahoo Mail now. I rarely use it, but it does work effortlessly now. At least for me it did.
MSN accounts work great also even with 2.01. At one time forwarded my yahoo MAIL to MSN. Added MSN to phone and use it for a work around.
That worked Thanks!
I tried that and keeps telling me my username or password is incorrect .. can someone help me plzzz .. i aint got a clue .. :S
worked for me too...
It was that simple for both Yahoo and MSN.
Make sure wifi is off when you set it up
Absolutely correct, with 2.1 under the hood. No more multiple copies of sent emails. BTW the sent emails when they arrive in the "sent" folder at Yahoo Mail have headers that show the origin as "email.android.com" - I wonder if this is part of the fix?
This is NOT, must I repeat, NOT for the .yahoo extensions but for folks who have YAHOO MAIL with .ymail extensions!!!! If you have .ymail these are the instructions to manually set up the service. The 2.1 fixed the .yahoo extensions but DID NOT fix the .ymail extension without manually entering the info ABOVE.
It also works for yahoo.co.in
In Server name you keep as yahoo.com
Thanks for your help. Just to note the security settings should be set to "none" in both incoming and outgoing servers. At least that is what I followed from another post I read. I set it up without any problems due to your post and the pne about the security.
