1. Are you ready for the Galaxy S20? Here is everything we know so far!

    Hi all,

My Galaxy S4 has recently developed something I've never seen before. Whilst charging, it comes up with some fancy graphics showing the percentage charged etc. The lock screen whilst charging is also littered with adverts, does anyone have any advice on how to remove this?

    Many thanks
    Steve

Sounds like you've installed some dodgy app (if the lock screen only happens when charging it's probably only one app). What have you installed or updated recently? And do you have any apps that claim their function is related to the battery (or more general "system tuners" or similar euphemisms)?

The trick will be to identify the app and remove it.

    Possibly it's Peel Smart Remote.

Doesn't ES do something like this too?

Peel certainly produces lockscreen ads, but its behaviour hasn't previously been linked to charging. So if the lockscreen only does it while charging my guess is it's something else (though Peel Smart Remote is an adware problem anyway, if you have that installed ;)).

Yes Peel did something very similar and that was my first suspect, but it was still disabled. I have just gone through unistalling apps and found that it was the flashlight app that was causing the issue. Soon as I removed it, problem went away, shame as I've used that app since my old Galaxy Ace 2.... Thanks for the suggestions all, great forum BTW, really helpful.

Which flashlight? Thankfully there are plenty of alternatives in the Play Store (I've been using TeslaLED, from the developer of Nova Launcher, for many years now without problems).

Suggest you use a flashlight app that does NOT require internet access permissions.
