Sorry to hear of your problem. :(

Unfortunately this sounds as if part of the internal filesystem, specifically the /efs folder, may be corrupt. The safest solution is to contact the retailer and have it dealt with under warranty.

Slug is correct. Unless you managed to make a backup of that folder before the reset, there is no way to recover from this issue. :(

Indeed, this is indeed correct. A factory reset should not have corrupted your EFS folder to start with, but it does look like this is the case. Usually it is only corrupted by flashing firmware and mods. :(

Just a quick explanation your EFS folder is a hidden (to non rooted phones) folder containing all the information your phone needs to connect to a mobile network IMEI (serial number or International Mobile Equipment Identifier), amongst other data. If it gets corrupted unless you have backed it up (a straightforward copy will not suffice) you have a useless device that will no longer operate as a phone or connect to any cellular network. Backing up the EFS folder is only possible on a rooted phone.

You appear to have done nothing that should invalidate your warranty at all. Take it back to where you purchased it from, and donot let them "fob you off" when you do.

to boot into recovery press the power button and the volume down button until the Samsung logo comes on, then let go of the power button and keep pressing the volume down. You should have reached the android recovery from here use the volume button and navigate to clear cache press the power button to clear and restart your tab when done.
Check the tab2 forum to see if anyone else has had your issue Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
