This has happened twice now. My alarm goes off in the morning then I get a text as I'm reaching for the phone. The text pop up (Handcent) causes the alarm to minimize or go to the background but it won't silence it. I cleared the text then tried to silence the alarm but it was closed. I opened it again, unchecked it , checked it again, and closed it and still was unable to silcence it. Had to shut my phone off to shut it up.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

You could turn off the pop-up feature is the only thing I can think of.

Boy, tough one to guess about without being able to recreate it on demand.

Just a shot in the dark, but maybe try holding down the Home button to get the recent list and see if the alarm notification is listed there?

Look for it in running services and see if you can stop if from there?

    Interesting...

Next time try to kill the alarm app/service, that might work and would be easier than rebooting your phone.

How do you propose I do that? I don't use killer and going to settings to see what's running seems like more work than rebooting.

Anybody ever figure out a solution for this?

Happened to my wife the other day (got a text while the alarm was going off and lost the dismiss/snooze lock screen). Could not figure out any way to shut the alarm off except shutting the phone off.

Use a program called Kaloer Clock instead of the stock one. Many customizable features and it is always on top. You can also make it so you won't recieve text messages while it is on. I've been using it for a year now.

Yeah, this happened to me as well, so I just use Alarm Clock Plus now. Just throwing out another option.
