Although I like this phone, some things make me miss my iPhone. One issue right now is the stupid alarm. Am I missing a step or something?? The alarms are set, two separate, the alarm icon is up in the notification bar however, the alarms do NOT go off. Help please.

Are you using a task killer? If so, don't kill the clock!

Is your ALARM volume turned up? Go set the alarm and pretend you are changing the alarm tone and hit the volume button while in that screen.

I like how the first thing you say is how you miss your iphone. EVERY phone has an alarm feature. I can assure you that the Evo has a working alarm. Like others have confirmed, be sure the clock is not being targeted by a task killer. Also be sure the actual alarm volume is up, as opposed to media volume, ringer volume, etc...

Yup, it was the task killer, which kills me because if I didn't have it my battery would die in five hours. I can barely get 12 hours with little to no use as is. And I am not tech savvy enough to figure out how to keep my alarm clock from being killed.

That's another question, how do i get my phone to stop sucking up the battery???

Well, your phone should run smoother without task killers (assuming you don't have a rogue app) FWIW. :)

Download Spare Parts from the market and see if there is anything keeping you phone awake. Also go Menu>Settings>About Phone>Battery>Battery Use and see what it says (if you click on cell standby check your TWS among other things).

Okay, I just checked it and there was a cheesy boxing game that was eating 50% of the battery and I haven't even opened that game in two days. Installed. Thanks for the help. By the way, cell standby was only 3%... good?

    3% is great!

Assuming installed was supposed to mean uninstalled. Spare Parts can be a huge help, keep it around if you can. :)

Time without service would be the one that's more important to check. Click on cell standby and see what it says.

After 14 hours at work today with very hit and miss service, my TWS is 17% and my cell standby is 59%.

*Almost no calls, no texts, etc.* Phone pretty much sat on a desk all day.

Go to the app Talk and kill it. Make sure you log out and go to options and select it to not log in on startup. For some reason if you have a gmail account active, it automatically logs you into the chat which is a battery/data EATER! I did that earlier today and my percentage hasn't moved much at all! It's been excellent, and brought a whole new life to my phone.
