    Yes sir. Ditto for you.

So... got everything going. The latest Viper disagreed with my phone. The new firmware is great; new TWRP is great.

I love new Viper, but my device is acting up on it.

Apps are crashing; everyone I reboot, I get the "Android updating" delay (I can live with this, as I generally only reboot to make periodic nands).

The app crashing is continued though.

Some people on Sprint are having issues with the latest Viper because of VenomSU. Try flashing the latest version of SuperSU in recovery after the ROM. That got it all working for me.

    Hey Dan!!!

Tried again today... flashed newest Viper and SuperSU. Still seeing a lot of crashes.

Titanium backup isn't detecting root. SuperSU won't start up.

Not too concerned though, as I have tons of nandroids.

Is your internal storage showing up in any apps? Wondering if SELinux is your issue and if restoring contexts would fix it (restorecon -FR /data/media/0)

Okay, I was doing another flash when you posted this. This time, in addition to the Aroma wipe (which I had done every time prior) I also selected stock Viper install. Before this flash, I had tried to customize the install a lot, and also tried to pull in set settings.

After the "cleaner" install, the crashes of stopped. Instead of flashing SuperSU, I installed via Venom Hub; I wasn't able to do this before, because Venom Hub would crash. The stock install worked wonders.

So, minus the trivial loss of Minimalistic Text widgets and my wallpaper, I am very pleased. I did have to flash several times, but as I said earlier, having nandroids negated any real danger, and I had excellent guidance in this thread.

    Thanks to Early and Cap!!!

    LOL.

It was a fun ride, but the devs outdid themselves again. Solid ROM.

My experience was a commercial for nandroids :-D

Holy smokes I've missed a ton. I just realized there was an update to lollipop this morning! Been really busy with school and my internship..

All updated and Vipered out, smooth as a fresh jar of Skippy. :D

Somewhat weird issue... got a weird notification that my M8 was using too much battery to charge. I remember seeing something like that WAY back when... FroYo era when I was driving, using GPS and Bluetooth and playing music with high brightness.

This time, my device was on the nightstand doing nothing.

I checked Power in Settings. Indeed, it didn't seem to be charging. Plugged back in, went back to sleep. In the morning, lost a few more percentage points (even though it had been plugged in for about two hours).

I checked what was using the battery: "Miscellaneous" accounts for 51%!

    Any thoughts/pointers?

Sounds like the Miscellaneous battery bug (did some research). Why would I get that?

ETA: according to battery stats, Miscellaneous only kicked in in the last hour.

I have never changed any cid that I know of. Do I need to do this to be able to update my firmware?

Could I just use the FUU since it seems more user friendly for someone like me who doesn't understand abd commands very well?

This would be nice to know if anyone else does know for sure...can I just jump right to 4.16.401.x also just using a FUU?

I don't know for sure...I can't even seem to find the most current Viper as it is.

Here's how to find the latest ViperOneM8 -

    http://venomroms.com/htc-one-m8/

And the latest version has a link to the firmware requirement. (Ignore statement "rom is not ready, the page was written last October.)

There are three ways to update firmware.

    1. Unroot, return to stock (including the recovery), relock bootloader, take OTAs until current, unlock bootloader, reinstall TWRP, install rom.

    2. Lock bootloader, run an RUU if the *exact* one needed exists (and good luck on that!), unlock bootloader, reinstall TWRP, install rom.

3A. Have s-off and do an RUU-type flash of just the firmware. Usually always requires the supercid mod (because gsm radio firmware is the same regardless of carrier, but the firmware payloads identify for the carrier that the dev snagged them from - so supercid lies to the fastboot update process and says, yes I am your phone, so the firmware will flash).

3B. Have s-off on Sprint - get the firmware from Captain Throwback, place on sd card, flash by booting into fastboot, no pc required.

3C. Have s-off on Verizon - I'm the wrong guy to ask.
