Lately if I update an app from the market or try to refresh FB app my 3G icon will turn from blue to black then all of my notification bar icons will disappear for a few seconds...also a couple 1x's. Sound like throttling? Or a bug?

Yeah, it is IMO just the Droid X (MOTO). Mine does this quite often. Lot's of peeps try to blame it on VZW or my area but i can sit side by side with for instance a HTC Incredible and it happens.

The HTC does MUCH better with downloads on speed test (1500kbps vs 400kbps) and never drops 3G like the MOTO does. I am in a WiFi area 99% of the time so it doesn't bother me that much. Rest of the phones features far out weigh this issue for me.

My buddy that travels a lot totally hates constantly dropping 3G (third handset, same issue). He is waiting for the next "best" phone. He had a couple of iPhones on AT&T but with VZW at least he gets reception all over.....lol

It seems for most, once you get to use the features of Android, the iPhone is just a big step backward...........

I have noticed this happening more since I have moved to the stock Gingerbread build. However I agree that I can't remember the last time this happened when I was on a ROM, sounds like Apex should be dropping in the next week or so, will have to see if that fixes it!

Never had this happen to me ever. Even now on the leaked GB build. I would think if it were a DROID x bug more of us would experience it. It may just be a bug with the rom or something else more random. But like faber said. I would think throttling would ne invisible

Yeah it doesn't happen all the time but lately its been acting up. Im on GB right now no other rom. Im just going to deal with it till ApeX drops then I can kill two birds with one stone...3G issue and this horrible keyboard and its lag.

That's assuming ApeX is going to fix those issues.

You could probably do some network speed tests to determine if in fact you're being throttled, right?
