Am I screwed? - Alltel Plan Question

Ok.. i just called vzw and did the upgrade over the phone. They have "alltel" representatives that can handle alltel accounts on upgrading. If you have a smartpak plan you do not have to change your alltel plan. I have a 500 unlimited txt, pics, data, 7pm, nights/weekends, 10+1 family numbers..

all you need to do is call say you want to upgrade and they will take care of you.

i went to a corporate vzw and since the only place you can make a preorder is online they said for alltel customers to call verizon wireless and tell them your an alltel customer (if you have a smartpak you wont have to pay for data 29.99 or txt pacakges).. you cant upgrade on the website because the verizon website doesnt offer alltel plans.. but the people at the 800 number can still deal with alltel plans.

so if you ever want to adjust your alltel plan for more mins or less or whatever.. you need to call into verizon wireless and not bother doing stuff on the website.

Just tried again...no dice. The best they can do is to add a VZW data plan to my account since "the Verizon devices do data differently than the Alltel devices." The fact that I am already paying for a data plan on the account doesn't seem to register with them.

Smells like BS to me.

dont preorder online if you have an alltel plan.. call on your verizon phone *611 or the 1800 number on their site and tell them you want to upgrade to an htc incredible and they will do it for you.. the lady that helped me out gave me all her contact info and said if i ever wanted to change anything with my account to email her instead of calling that way she can directly deal with it.

She also said that i have basically submitted for a pre-ordrer and she will call me on wednesday before it ships to make sure everything is in order.. she didnt even bill me because she said i will pay that on wednesday.

do you have an extension or direct number for her? If so can you PM me that, better to deal with someone who is on the same page.

thanks

My last attempt was by calling the 800 number. They guy didn't hesitate during the call and he repeated that they have to charge extra for the data plan due to the "difference". That's the BS that I'm talking about. The only difference is that I have a really good plan :)

I'll take that CSR contact info in a PM if you're feeling charitable.

I emailed her asking if it would be cool if i gave that info out as soon as i hear back from her saying its ok ill forward it to you. But you should try to talk with a rep and just tell them you want to talk to someone about pre-ordering a phone and you have an alltel plan.. dont listen to their b/s you dont have to change your plan and add anything..

either way I will be calling tomorrow. I'm just looking for a little certainty. I have always had terrible luck dealing with large corporation CSRs.

I went to a VZW store last July. They told me that if I wanted to update my phones, I would need to get a Verizon plan. I told them thank you, and that I would just order a phone off of eBay. That changed thier mind really fast since I was paying month to month. He ran back really fast and then came out and said I could keep my same plan. So I did.

I'm on the Alltell 500 plan now too and tried to pre-order last night but it was making me select a different data pack. I called the 800 number and the guy said it's just how Verizon's system works. When I got to the confirmation page my bill was only 99 cent higher and that was due to the 7.99 insurance verses the 7.00 for insurance I pay now. Hope that helps.

I ordered my Incredible on the 20th on the website. I called the 800 number a couple of times complaining about the extra $30 a month, but they more or less said there was nothing the could do to avoid the extra $30 a month, I wish I had read this post before I ordered, I would have went in to a store to get it. I wonder if I should take my phone down to a store to activate when it arrives, or if I should call in and ask to speak to an "Alltel specialist". I think I will send it back if I can't get the fee waived. Sprint has unlimited everything for $70 a month......
