Am I the only one still perplexed to why CardView is still annoyingly bad in 2019?

I simply cannot go over the fact that CardView is still so limited in terms of shadow control. Elevation setting is the only setting for shadow and it sucks because it's too much of a general setting and literally doesn't give you any control. At this point I am very surprised Android didn't release a better version of the library where you can manually set a different shadow color, a shadow opacity, a shadow scale, a shadow roundness, a shadow blurness, shadow X and Y translation. What's your opinion on this? What other library alternatives do you have?

While maybe development in nature, it isn't really a coding question that I can see. I think we'll let it stay here and see how the conversation goes.
