Amazon Underground...did you agree to the permissions?

I'm tempted to get Amazon Underground for the (very) rare good free app. However, the permissions seem a bit excessive. Did anyone here accept it?

Android Underground, I remember that, it's not been touched in nearly four years, probably abandoned.

The original Amazon Android accounts got incorporated into this. Did they change the EULA on those, too?

I have bought apps from Amazon.

I'm glad I got my Amazon apps through the old Free App Of The Day promotions.

Not much in the "New" Underground that interests me.

I saw a speed reading app that gets good reviews yesterday on Amazon that would be free. So, I was weighing if I should get Underground or just skip the app (it's not worth the cost to me).

I've checked the permissions and there's nothing there I object to the app having... And some of the apps are definitely worth having.

    Which ones concern you?

I get a pop-up notification asking to update the Amazon Appstore app.
You need to go to the Google Play Store app & change your settings,so that apps won't auto-update.

The Amazon app for apps isn't in the play store. You have to download an apk file.

I wanted a couple of paid apps on my new phone, and looked in Play. No Go. Had to install the apk to get my apps.

You could find movies, kindle, shopping ----

I was thinking the Amazon Underground app was also available from the Google Play Store,& that it was trying to update the Amazon Android Appstore app, essentially, swallowing it up,becoming an all encompassing one-stop app.
Looks like I was mistaken on that, but, wherever you get the stand-alone Amazon Appstore app (I get it from APK MIRROR),it shouldn't update itself, unless you have auto update checked-off somewhere.

I keep a Titanium Backup copy of the Amazon Appstore luckily before this new Amazon Underground app started merging the appstore.

The permissions seem a bit excessive. I also think so.

You can disable it when you don't want it. I used it for a couple of apps that Google insisted would not run on the Oppo. I never rooted the Oppo, Helium didn't work and learned to late about X-Plore being able to copy.
