Android 11 - DND mode and Always on Display Q

Is there any way to SHOW notification icons on the Always on Display, in Android 11, in DND mode ...but silence notifications, while in DND mode?

It was easily done in Android 10, but appears to be not possible in 11, unless you want notifications to ALWAYS be silent, even when not in DND mode.

I dislike Android 11 immensely, and this just adds to it.

Is there a third party DND app which could actually accomplish this??

Think I fixed it.
Uncheck "Don't show pop-up notifications" under DND->Hide notifications
I wouldn't refer to icons as "pop-up" but seems to work now
