I have the original HTC Incredible and if I look at the software version listed under settings, it still shows 2.2. My mother recently got a new Android (Thunderbolt) and hers shows 2.2.1.

I notice some distinct differences in our interfaces. I prefer her camera app (easier to switch between camera and video) and I like how it shows the last few used apps in the notification bar.

Is this part of the 2.2.1 update? If so, how do I get it? I currently have a 2.2 rooted phone (just did it a few days ago). I'm sure these aren't just Thunderbolt-specific perks because I've seen them on the MyTouch as well.

I moved your thread to the Incredible section... but I don't think rooted phones get the over the air updates.... that might be why you didn't get it.

The thunderbolt has a different version of "sense" that the incredible didn't get. Can't compare the features of the two phones.
The features you see are "sense 2.1" perks, which may be available in the 2.3 release for the incredible.

Don't worry about version 2.2.1. Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3) is coming to the Incredible. For those who phones are rooted it's available now. Also the new Sense 3.0 is available. I have two versions of Gingerbread on my phone-Gingerbread with vanilla and GingerSense with Sense 3.0. Both are good but I prefer Sense. I like it better than vanilla.

The incredible didn't need or get the 2.2.1 update. That just fixed a few bugs with Android's native exchange support...which HTC provided exchange support separate from android's, so that update wasn't needed.

Thanx for the more exact answer he was looking for. By the way...have you tried any of the GB ROMs that's available now?

I thought Gingerbread wasn't coming to the Incredible?

    Two Quick Questions:
    1. If you root, you can install a custom rom that includes (imitates?) 2.3 aka Gingerbread?
    2. What are the main perks/improvements that GB has to offer

1 - It doesn't imitate. It IS Gingerbread.
