How long does it usually take after a soak test for the update to become public? And would updates after this like .01 updates take as long or no?

Without any insider knowledge, I would personally anticipate a full Android 6 rollout by the end of December.

The Style is a pure GSM phone, universal in its capacity. I suppose the Pure, with all the various GSM, CDMA and LTE carriers, is a bit more complex and Moto wants to make absolutely sure that all users will have a good upgrade experience. My guess, anyway.

But they don't have to wait for any carriers to approve the update, while with the style you do...

According to David Schuster, "We have also started the approval process for 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen) and expect to push it out in the next few weeks." Someone on another forum speculated that "approval process" might refer to T-Mobile band 12/VoLTE. That might also explain the delay for the MXPE.

Considering that the "test drive" and "soak test" were supposed to take a few weeks, I'm pleasantly surprised that the roll out is coming so fast. In fact, I'll be somewhat surprised if we don't have Android 6.0 by the end of this month.

I think standby time should increase significantly because of marshmallow and doze. However, I doubt straight SOT itself will improve much.

I think the holdup may be due to Motorola wanting the MXPE to support certain carrier enhancements, so it's not completely "carrier free." One example I've read about is waiting for T-Mobile to certify it for band 12 LTE.

Here's the scoop from David Schuster at Motorola, posted yesterday on his Google+ account:
"I’m pleased to announce that today we are starting the soak test period of Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen) in the US. We will monitor the soak for next week and with good results, proceed to full launch."

Apparently the white noise static thing when unlocking the screen hasn't been fixed yet.

No clue as to why it even happens, maybe the refresh rate is too low.
