I have a small question about installing apps from other sources.

I installed the Angry Birds app from a web site and installed via mass storage on the memory card (i.e. NOT via the Android Market). Thiis was before the app was made available to the market.

However, there is now a big update, as many of you will be aware, and I want it! Does anybody know if, I now go onto the Market and choose to install the newly updated game, will it overwrite all of my saved progress? Or will it just update the game as normal even though I did not install the original game from the Market?

Your ideas and knowledge will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

You won't lose your place if you install the update from the market.

I had ad version of angry birds and updated to non ad version. Both from different markets.

It made me uninstall my old version.

    Lost all my save data.

Must be because they are different versions ans not an upgrade per se. If you currently have the first release of AB from getjar and you want to upgrade form the market, it will not wipe out your data. I did it.
