I randomly get a pop up error: (the most recent one said: "The application Google Search (process com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.")

    I'm running Android 2.2, Kernel 2.6.32.17-gee557fd htc-kernel@and18-2#15 and Software number 3.70.651.1

    Any suggestions?

Actually I am rooted, but I never installed a new ROM since I liked the stock one.

I reset Cache and Dalvik Cache as you first suggested and so far (24hr later) it seems to have fixed the problem. I'll keep you posted if things change.

    Thanks for the help!
