I use an Lg optimus l70 d321, running kitkat 4.4.2 and I was having trouble adding my gmail account. I got the whole "signing in, this may take a few minutes" and eventual "could not establish a connection to the server." I found this thread

    https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3477

Which had a comment (#16) that explained deleting the data/data/com.android.providers.settings folder, and rebooting, would fix the issue. It fixed my problem with signing in but now my home button doesnt take me to the home screen. Holding the menu button also used to open a screen with recent apps that weren't closed (task manager?) But now that doesn't work now either. As the title says, the home button will wake my phone from being locked, and the menu button still opens menus. Please and thanks for any suggestions. I'm trying to avoid a factory reset, if possible.
