how do you reset password ..when i purchased unit the password screen appeared when powered up

Is it a screenlock password you need to get by?
Not familiar with that device, but is there a reset button on the back that you could insert a paper clip into to reset the device?
Did you buy this new or used?

Welcome to the forums

If you have forgotten your slide to unlock password to your device then the only way would be to use your Gmail account to recover it, as this should work, unless you are using a custom lockscreen password app.

Otherwise performing a factory reset by booting into recovery would be your only other option. This can be done by holding the Sound Up/Down then pressing the Power button.
