Android Market and Auto Updating?

I cant seem to get this feature of 2.2 to work properly. I have all of my apps set to auto update, but for some reason they never do. I know some updates that I have seen have said Update-Manual (Pandora is one) but all of the others still say update and I have to start them manually. Or hit the update all button if there is more than 1.

Am I not understanding this feature correctly? By checking the Auto update box does that put it in the list to update when I hit the Update All button (if there is more than 1 update).
