Hello all. I originally posted this in the transform ultra section, but figured I would try it here also. Maybe someone could help me out with the android market. I have been with boostmobile for a while now. I started with the prevail and just went to the transform ultra. Anyway, on Thursday, the markets top free apps category will only show me the top 58 apps and it stops there. It used to show me hundreds and hundreds, but only 58 now. The top selling, grossing, etc.. categories show me everything, so I don't know whats going on with the top free.
I know this is trivial, but it is a touch irritating as I browse the top free apps quite a bit. Maybe google is limiting me because I'm cheap and don't buy any apps. Who knows. I sent them an email, but only received an automated response. Again, probably because its trivial. So if anyone has any ideas, i would appreciate any advice. Oh, I did trying clearing data, cache and simple things like that. Thanks.

I don't see that happening with Play on my handset. What version of Play are you currently running? Also, have you tried clearing the data and cache for it, just to give it a clean start?

Thanks for the response. My build is 3.5.16. I have tried clearing data, cache. I tried insalling version 3.5.15. I checked my settings to make sure all apps are visible. Im at my wits end about this. I apparently am the only person experiencing this issue as I searched the web to no avail. It has to be something simple, but I am running out of ideas. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Are you rooted? If so, are you running a custom ROM?

The only idea I have left is if you want to go into your settings, then bring up the category for all your apps. Scroll down to Play, and uninstall the updates. I would then try it out and see how it behaves. It'll update again on its own, so if it's working from the oldest version I'd keep an eye on it and see at what point it breaks. Then I'd try to find the support thread for it, or start one up, so it can be reported. If that doesn't work, I think you're staring a factory reset in the face.

I don't know if it helps anyone, but I believe Google now has a support line for people to call (though I don't know if it'll help with this)

For whatever reason, the app store is behaving again. Everything is back to normal. I was emailing google back and forth and this was their last response. I tried it, but I don't think this is what fixed it. But who knows. Try at your own risk.

I know you have tried these trouble shooting steps
below but try them in this specific sequence. In order to resolve this
issue, please make sure you've cleared the cache and data of both the
Market application and the Download manager and uninstall the updates on
the Google Play Store. Here's how:

    1. Visit Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
    2. Tab over to "All"
    3. Select the Market application, and then tap "Clear data" and "Clear
    cache"
    For the Download manager:
    1. Visit Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
    2. Tab over to "All"
    3. Select "Download manager," and then tap "Clear data" and "Clear cache"
Please note that after clearing the Google Play Store app data, if you
have set a PIN code and/or a content filter, you'll need to re-apply these
    settings.

Do these steps to temporarily uninstall Market updates:
    Android 2.2 or higher:
    1) Go to "Home" > "Menu" > "Settings" > "Applications" > "Manage
    applications"
    2) Touch the "All" tab
    3) Scroll down and select the Market application
    4) Touch "Uninstall updates"
After doing these steps reboot your device and keep in mind this will
revert Google Play Store to the original version that came with your
device. Google Play Store should automatically self-update to the current
version within a few days. After performing these steps relaunch the
Google Play Store and re-download the application.

Hopefully it was just a glitch in the system and it burped itself clean. Good luck all.
