Help android market still not working

Hi all
Well, my android market still doesn't work. Been a week now. I know I've only got 595mb left on my 8gb SD card, but the things I've tried to download have been smaller. Do I need a minimum left on my card, or something? Whenever I try it just says "so and so has been unsuccessful in downloading please try again. "
Who do I call for help, ghostbusters?
