Android newbie saying hi

Hi, I'm a complete noob to the android world and am currently looking to buy my first android powered phone. I've been using windows mobile phones for years now but feel it's time for a change.
I'm based in the UK and currently on T-mobile, do you guys have any opinions on which phone model is best? I was originally looking at the G2 but I would quite like a slide out keyboard.
