I've previously linked this standard Android app to my Outlook account and it contains lots of notes I need to be able to search. This app used to allow me to search but now it wont - when I type in a search term and hit 'done' nothing happens. Because it's a default app I can't just uninstall/re-install it as I would with any other mis-behaving app - what can I do?

Tell us which phone and OS version?Apps like this are often not a generic Android app but a manufacturer's app, so one person's Notes app will be different from another's. Hence that might help us find someone with the same app.
If the behaviour has changed the question is why? If it happened when you had a system update then yes, you probably are stuck. If you had an update via the Play Store you should be able to uninstall the update (some manufacturers do distribute updates to their system apps this way). If neither then it's something in the app's settings or data has got messed up (but the drawback of clearing the data is kinda major!).
