Android Nougat folders look awful

Just got a new device which has Android 7.1 Nougat. My previous device was 6. I have always created multiple folders on my home screen for my apps; SOCIAL, MUSIC, SHOPPING, etc. The previous way that Android created the icon for folders was to stack images of the contents, the first app being the most prominently featured. Now, Android 7 creates folders by showing tiny representations of the contents. This looks absolutely HORRIBLE. Seriously, they need to fix this or at least give the user options.

Any suggestions on how to improve the way folders look on Android Nougat?
