Hey guys, I know this os thing has been asked many times but I'd like some more info about it. More specifically why does android os uses less than a meg on wifi but around 10 megs in half hour? Any info will be appreciated.

A bit of info about my phone:
I'm currently running CyanogenMod, so yeah root access is enabled.
    I've got a htc one m7
    Running android version 5.1.1

    Hopefully that helps.

Well I apologise if I seem a little stupid. Perhaps images will help.
This morning it went from 90 megs and through the whole day it used maybe 1 meg.

I'm also not positive what you're asking, but Android will occasionally use data for updates and stuff like that. It can go days without transferring data, then use some. Sounds like today it used 1MB.

Your SIM tab is network data used through your carrier, WiFi tab is WiFi data. Cell carriers don't charge for WiFi data used.

Also, updating apps automatically from the playstore is another big offender. You can choose update only over wifi in the Playstore settings.

Your OS is going to consume data. 76mb over a month isn't much.
The OS is comprised of several things and some of those things consume some data.

Are you looking for a deeper understanding of how the OS works?

Yeah I am MLSS. I always thought that android os data usage shouldn't be that high.. Especially before the custom ROM got put on because before the rom the os would use around 10mb per month. But yeah more info would help.
