My Nexus 6p wasn't updating for months so I had to sideload to update it. After doing that, my phone wouldn't allow me to use Android pay. The phone is not rooted. I used the latest OTA update available. I relocked the bootloader. Any other ideas which you think may be causing the problem

    Hello there!
You had to unlock the bootloader to sideload the update?
Not exactly familiar with the Nexus line of devices, but I would surmise that Android Pay detected the unlocked bootloader when you sideloaded the update thereby rendering it useless despite the fact you relocked the bootloader.

How to fix it? Is there a program similar to ODIN (for Samsung) to use to either revert back, or reflash an official update?
I'm sure someone who knows Nexus will chime in about it:)

Edit: well, after reading this, I see that indeed the bootloader has to be unlocked, but that was for flashing full Factory Images.
But, reading this, flashing OTA's by sideloading does not.

Maybe you just need to flash the Factory Image?

Hang in there until someone who knows better sees this thread;)

Mikestony, thanks for reaching out. I contacted both Google and Huawei. this was google answer:
I've just received an update from the specialists and they've confirmed that this error occurs, only if the Operating System of a device has been tampered with. This would also include manually upgrading the device's software.

Keeping the privacy and security of our users in mind Android Pay app was integrated in way to protect our users from security breach. It would detect the security breach of the device and take preventative measures.

Here's what we can do; I need you to get in touch with your device manufacturer and inform them about the manual upgrading. They'll be able to assist you in rectifying the error that is causing this issue.

I just emailed Huawai tonight. I will see what they say. Downloading the Full OTA image will unlock the bootloader too. That's what I did. I will let you know what they say, if and when they ever reply

Nexus 6P

The Nexus 6P is a Huawei made Android Smartphone that would be come the last Nexus device before the launch of Google's Pixel line of phones.
