im still at a loss as to why i cant get the icons you posted here in post 5 and 6 of this thread, that were made for 480x800 screen devices to work with my Samsung Fascinate. there's a good 1/4" of space surrounding them no matter what i do, 5 row screen setting, check, unlocked launcher pro plus so i can resize widgets, check......i dunno, could use some help, same thing happens using ADW Launcher.....its frustrating

EDIT: DAMNN! It looks so amazing. It is working wonders. The only down side would be that the images aren't that high quality. Looks really faded out. Other than that, it looks amazing. I don't know to post Screen Shots or else I would of.

Also, where do you get the icons?

Unfortunately the resolution of the device plays a big part in the image quality. If you could post screenshots (how to do this is listed on page 3 of this thread) I could make sure that they are the correct resolution for the device.

All of the icons I made myself. They were all originally created by me for use on my Incredible and at the request of other members for use on their devices. I just resized them for the lower resolution of 320x480.

You think that's frustrating? Try figuring this stuff out from scratch!

Anyway, if you could post some screenshots of how the widgets are sizing, I may be able to figure it out. The only thing I can think of right away is there would be an increased vertical spacing if you have the notification bar hidden. Also (I need to ask), just make sure that you're set to 4-columns and 5-rows (I know you said it's already set to 5-rows).

All of the images are sized specifically to not need resizing after placing. I'm not sure why it's not working. Seeing it would help.

    Let me know.

Just want to make sure that you saw this part of the thread:

    Creating Image Labels in Photoshop

How to add text to an image:

    1. Click on the "T" text tool in the tool palette.
    2. Click anywhere on the canvas.
    3. Type the text, then click the check mark at the top bar.
    4. If you didn't set the font before entering the text, you can do it now with the text layer selected (change font, color, size, etc. in the "Character" palette.
    5. If you want, add the drop shadow as described in the post listed above.

If you need any other help, just let me know. Photoshop is difficult to use for the first time.

    Just a couple of questions:

How should the train and bus icons be labeled (named)?

Did you have any widget sizes in mind for any of these?

Now I feel dumb....Heads up, theres a setting in the advanced section of Launcher Pro that sets rows to 5. It was the wrong setting.....i found the correct row/column settings and it works beautifully now. Thanks

Thank you so much. It fits so nicely now. Just got to find some matching dock icons now, or someway to remove the dock in general.

Great work Paul, I'm definitely going to try this when I get some spare time.

I'll probably have some trouble with the dock though, as I'm running Android 1.6 with ADW launcher since Launcher Pro only works on 2.x... I've tried changing the dock background in the past (inside the ADW apk, I don't think there's another way), but it didn't come out correctly (there's an image file for every "slot" of the dock and when I put the same square picture for all of them, they get rendered with different heights on the phone, it's really ugly). I don't have the knowledge to look into xml files and things like that to find the source of the problem.

By the way, I can use Photoshop without any problem, I'm just saying this in case anyone has an idea. :D

I tried, it looks nice, but serves pointless as I can't have any apps/icons on it without looking insanely weird.

When I had it, I put apps with no icons on it. It looks nice with the WindowsPhone7 themes, and invisible apps worked quite well. I got it from the guy who originally came up with the theme style. :)

Nice, but won't you get confused with the invisible apps?

On a side note, can I request a few images in HTC Legend size.

Something for Soundhound, and a few vertical images for any of the following: (Youtube, Camera, Music, Market, Googles, Fruit Ninja, Facebook). All my current images are 2x2 or 2x1. Wanna mix it up with some 1x2, 1x3 and even some 4x1.

Thanks again, please continue your astonishing work.

I only used a few, and only a single dock, so it wasn't bad... the app list was in the middle, and I had one on each end. Most of my apps were on the screen anyway.

everybody has their own way of doing things, me personally, i used the clear icons to hide them, and on my screen i have the icon/shortcut to all common things, like phone, email, browser, etc........

in other words i use it as if they aren't there. every once in a while i will accidentally hit them but it's not a big deal, and after a while you memorize whats there if you still want to launch items from the dock

i took the liberty of resizing Krze's Icons to fit the Samsung SAMOLED screen better, should fit any of the Galaxy S 4" screen phones better than before

    Pixels Used

    4x1- 475w x 124h
    3x1- 355w x 124h
    2x1- 230w x 124h
    1x1- 110w x 124h
    1x2- 115w x 266h

    Download here:

PS, i also prefer to have the format in the filename, so i also changed that so when i am placing a 3x1 icon with desktop visualizer it helps me in choosing

Hey guys, would be good if we could get all the icons and batch them up into zip that fit each resolution as so many variants spread out now and not everyone stating what resolution/phone they have. This way all the icons made found can be neatly kept together and updated when new ones available.

  23. jamesnmandy

    jamesnmandy Android Enthusiast

it really needs to be done per device, or at least grouped into screen types, for instance, the Samsung Galaxy S phones use a 4" screen running 800x480 resolution, however the Motorola Droid X with a 4.3" screen runs the same resolution, so the icons dont scale....

thats why i say the ones i resized will work best with all Galaxy S phones as they all use the same screen and same resolution

    Hello everyone,

I'm writing this post due to something that I only now just realized. I have been noticing that, despite all of my insane OCD reworking, layouts on some devices are not spacing correctly. The only reason I can see for this issue is the possibility that the "Auto-Fit Items" option is not selected in LauncherPro Settings. Please see the following for a visual explanation and how to fix the problem:

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

If you do not have the "Auto-Fit Items" option check marked, it apparently makes the vertical spacing asymmetrical. The middle image is with "Auto-Fit" turned on, and the right-hand image is with "Auto-Fit" turned off. As you can see, the black vertical lines between the widgets stays the same but the black horizontal lines between the widgets gets smaller.

To remedy the problem, follow these steps:

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

When the pop-up screen says "Restart required" press [Yes].

    Done! Hope this helps.
