So this may seem bizarre, but I'm looking for an Android phone that does not have any WiFi capabilities whatsoever. Is there such a phone?

An unusual request. I think all Android phones have WiFi though.

Why does it matter, if wifi is off you will never know it's there anyway.

As far as I know, no. Just about every modern smartphone has wifi capabilities.

Why does it really matter? If it has it, then it's better.

Why ask a question on a question?
I really can't think of any phones with no wifi except some blackberries

Because some companies have secure computing requirements that ban you from having wifi on your phone. Bluetooth too, in some cases.

    Hence.... wifi free Blackberrys!

I've heard of companies that don't allow cameras, I've never heard of one that doesn't allow you to have wifi capability.

They can't do anything if you don't turn it on at work. I think what they don't want is you getting on their wifi and compromising it. I would just not turn it on.

Does blackberry still make wifi free phones? I figured everything after the Storm got wifi.

Not to mention depending on how the company implemented it you may not be able to access it anyway.
At my office we can't access our wifi with our personal devices.

If they disallow WiFi entirely then they either have a lazy IT department or clueless management, because:
    1. They can encrypt and MAC-filter so that no unapproved devices can get on the network in the first place.
    2. Someone who is not an employee can still sit out in the parking lot and try to hack in all he wants.
    3. If they are REALLY worried about security, they'd go wired-only and make people use 3G/VPN for wireless access.

I hope that wasn't directed at me. I said they don't allow our personal devices on our network.

Where I work, its encrypted so no access without hacking or the password.

if you need a phone without wifi why dont you get something "old school" off ebay for a few quid and then buy a proper phone for you outside work.

I read here that the GT540 does not have WiFi- LG GT540 : An Android Smartphone Without WiFi? - LG GT540 : An Android Smartphone Without WiFi?... | Comments, Connectivity, Ph - Zooltechnology Blog but read somewhere else that it might be a hoax so something you can try to verify for yourself (ie go on GT540 forums to ask owners which report is true).

As far as Android devices without WiFi, I haven't heard of any. Actually, in terms of smartphones without WiFi, I haven't heard of any. Your best bet might be a cheap feature phone to use at work then pop your SIM into a smartphone once you get out of work to use as your personal device.

    The Samsung Moment

Technically it does have wifi capability, but if it's turned on and off it will lock up, go into airplane mode, and become virtually useless with no wifi, or 3G, or GPS, or phone signal, or any other radio. And it can't be fixed without rebooting.

Keep in mind that it was not intentionally made to have destructive wifi, but Samsung never fixed it and never recalled it, so you should be able to find one somewhere for cheap... because nearly everyone that has one is trying to get rid of it. ;)

    On second thought...

Instead, you could download Tasker onto whatever android phone that you choose.

    Then use tasker to
1- Put a lock on Tasker itself (so that it can't be accessed)
2- Put a lock on the android uninstaller (so that Tasker can't be uninstalled)
3- Create a Tasker profile that just turns wifi off whenever it is on. :D

There ya go... any Android phone that you choose no longer has wifi capability!

Sounds like someone who knows everything... about not all that much.

In some places, you can't even bring a personal phone into the building. Why? Do some googling... there's a lot more out there to worry about than wifi hacking.

Same thing goes for my phone. When I want to put on the Wi-Fi on my phone I can't use to my Google account on my school.

Well if your Google account doesn't work with WiFi at your school there's a good chance that it's something your school is blocking rather than anything to do with your phone.
