Can we assume the "If all your friends wanted to jump off a cliff" speech didn't work? ;)

In answer to your question--I don't know, but I suspect you'll have to find an app like "Find My Friends" that works on both Android and iOS.

    - Install Google+ from the apple store onto that apple device
    - Create a free Google account for him, or have him sign in to the one he has
    - Go into his circles and create a circle called "Pinpoint Location"
    - Add yourself (and whoever else you decide to - i.e. mother, sister, etc.) to Pinpoint Location circle
    - Google+ app > Locations > Settings > Location Settings > Location Sharing On and then share Pinpoint Location with the Pinpoint Location circle.

Creating the "Pinpoint Location" circle avoids future confusion as you can see with a glance who has it and adding and removing doesn't mess with any other circles.

gtbarry, nice example of an app that works in both OS's, but does Google+ have age filters? I quit Google+ because I got tired of the gratuitous profanity, so it might not be something the OP would want to sign his son up for, without filters.

FindiPhoneOnAndroid. Works just like Find my iPhone. I use it.

OP doesn't mention the son's age or a concern about content. Also, why would you need a safe filter if you are the only one your son follows?

His son could easily follow anyone he wants. But as you said depending on the age this might not matter.

@OP: Can't you just sign into a web page to use "Find my iPhone?"
