I don't use any special texting app I just use what comes original on my android DNA phone and my mom has an account on Verizon I thinks its myvzw.com and she can look at our stuff and view our text messages we send. But if I delete my message will she still be able to see them. I mean someone texted me saying something and I deleted the message but will she still be able to see that message on her Verizon account.

She can only see the messages that aren't deleted right or can she see them even after they are deleted?

Hi bonsnick! Welcome to the board :)

I've moved your post to the Verizon-specific forum so that it can be sure to get the attention of fellow Verizon subscribers. Please let me know if I can do anything else to help.

From what I remember, deleting the message only deletes it from the local storage. I'm not positive if the myvzw app keeps them stored in the cloud or not though. At the very least, she'll be able to see that a message was sent, but not the contents on the activity log if she signs into the webpage.

Ok if I dont use a special app to text with then the message shouldn't save should it.

I hope not if so I'm screwed. And if it does show up then is their any way to delete the message off of the vzw account

There's no total way to remove it from ever existing because Verizon keeps records in case of court subpoena. But other than seeing a time stamp of when the message was sent, your mother won't see it without asking for a full log from Verizon.

So without a full order to vzw she won't be able to see deleted messages but she will be able to see them as long as I haven't deleted them off my phone right

Basically. Just as long as there's no external cloud saving going on.

On the My Verizon site all she can see is:

    the date
    time
    number to
    number from
whether it was a regular SMS or MMS message.

It does not show, nor is there a way to access, the actual message. I just pulled my account up and checked both my and the 'family' lines.

That being said, Verizon does have a different (not stock) messenger service that will allow you to back your messages up forever and can sync them between your phone and My Verizon - somewhere on there. I don't use that so am not clear on how/what it looks like. You would need the Verizon Messenger app installed from the Play store though, it's NOT stock or part of the regular My Verizon stuff.

Yes, clementine is correct, all the account holder can see is what would be called the envelope information. Sender, Sent to, time & date, size, etc.

Actually, Verizon has a WebApp under MyVerizon that shows everything. Go to My Messaging and click the Go To Web App button. And I tried deleting some messages on my phone, signed out of My Verizon, signed back in 5 minutes later, and the deleted texts were still in the WebApp.

That's not set up by default though, you have to sign up/configure it. I just went to it and there was nothing there at all. I signed up and could only see my 'welcome' text that they just sent. I did, however, in settings see an option to link devices! So, it can be done and I stand corrected. That said, it's still not set up to be easy and automatic. You have to use the Verizon Messaging app on your phone, and that's in Play and has to be installed.

I do recall now that when I started using the Verizon Messaging app it sync'd everything and I had to unsubscribe from that 'feature'.

Somewhere along the way you have to register/set-up/allow your texts to be backed up/viewable on My Verizon. I don't see where it's done by default (unless through the app, but, hello, read permissions and descriptions ;) ) and I was not able to see anyone elses texts, just mine (one).

I'm not saying it's not possible, just that it's not blatantly obvious to do.

But ya know, now that I'm really thinking about it, way back when I do think there was a way to send texts via Verizon's website. A feature I never used but, perhaps, all of that could still be accessible to the account holder? Again though, the texts would have had to be sent from there? It's not "current state" though.

OK. I did try the Verizon Messages app a few months ago. Didn't care for it, so I deleted it, but apparently the link is still active.

If anyone is 'tracking' your SMS you can turn off the WebApp and any devices your messages are being frwd to via the WebApp. Just open the WebApp, go to settings (3 bars) and delete any devices and unsubscribe. Of course you would have to have access (password) to the My Verizon account the WebApp is setup under. Once this is done, I would think it couldn't be reactivated unless Verizon Messages is reinstalled on your phone.

And I forgot to mention there are other apps like MightyText and others that do the same think Verizon Messages does. The only difference is those apps have to remain on the server device (phone) for texts to be accessed via a web browser.
