Angry Birds...SMS access?

Latest update wants SMS access.

What is up with that?

so if they are doing some billing platform, why would they initially say it was a mistake? I refuse to believe they didn't know about a major billing process and claim initially it was a mistake.that makes no sense at all.
and why would they roll out something like this for a very limited market yet affect everyone?
I'm not big on conspiracy theories but this makes no sense at all.

I agree. I'm not one to really care about access to certain phone functions, but this one was concerning. Didn't bother updating. In fact, I might remove it all together.

They updated it again this morning and removed the permission.

If you didn't read them, go to the comments page in the Market. There were tons of very unhappy "Angry users".
Glad to see they took that off. Good for them.

People were entitled to voice their disapproval of the inclusion of SMS permissions. Fair play to Rovio for listening and removing them.

honestly, I have no issue with it. it was a means of allowing purchases for new content in game. No big deal.

I also don't think they lied about it. I think their PR department was contacted, and didn't have a clue why it would use SMS.
